SCHEVENINGEN, Netherlands — The anti-Islam, Euroskeptic radical Geert Wilders is projected to be the shock winner of the Dutch election. With almost all votes counted, in a dramatic result that will stun European politics, his Freedom Party (PVV) is set to win around 37 of the 150 seats in parliament — more than double the number it secured in the 2021 election, according to exit polls. Frans Timmermans’ Labour-Green alliance is forecast to take second place, winning 25 seats — a big jump from its current 17. Dilan Yeşilgöz, outgoing premier Mark Rutte’s successor as head of the center-right VVD, suffered heavy losses and is on course to take 24 seats, 10 fewer than before, according to early results.A win for Wilders will put the Netherlands on track — potentially — for a dramatic shift in direction, after Rutte’s four consecutive centrist governments. The question now, though, is whether any other parties are willing to join Wilders to form a coalition. Zach LaVine missed his first game of the season for the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday as he sat out the first of four road games with a foot injury.LaVine described the injury as a midfoot sprain in his right foot. He began to notice pain in his right foot during the first home game against the Miami Heat on Nov. 18, cutting the tape off his foot at halftime in an attempt to alleviate discomfort.“During the Miami games, it was bugging me,” LaVine said. “Obviously, just trying today, it felt the same if not worse. Did a lot of warmups, a lot of treatment over the last couple of days. It didn’t feel right. Giving it a day, see how it feels. We’ll figure it out and get me feeling better.”LaVine played through discomfort in the second Miami game on Monday, but said adrenaline kept the injury from inhibiting his movement throughout the game. He averaged 13 points and 5.5 assists across those two games, taking a lower volume of shots than usual as the Heat...Hundreds of German police raid properties of Hamas supporters in Berlin and across the country

PHOENIX — Chris Paul and longtime referee Scott Foster have a storied rivalry that added another chapter in the Warriors’ loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night.Foster issued a pair of technical fouls to Paul with 23.5 seconds left in the first half because of a disagreement over a called foul on Kevin Durant. Foster called Paul’s chirps during Durant’s free throws “unsportsmanlike conduct” and T’d him up again over continued complaints, he said in a pool report. Paul, who was ejected for a seventh time in his career, said Foster’s ejection was “personal.”“I’m OK with a ref talking, saying whatever,” Paul said. “Just don’t use a tech to get your point across. I’ve got to do a better job making sure I stay on the floor for my teammates.”The rivalry dates back to Paul’s days with the Los Angeles Clippers in the early 2010s and got to a point where he, Foster, then-Clippers coach Doc Rivers, Paul...UC Irvine earns 77-71 win over Toledo at BallDawgs Classic

PHOENIX (AP) — Chris Paul’s return to Phoenix ended in the second quarter on Wednesday night after the 12-time All-Star was ejected by his old nemesis: referee Scott Foster. The Golden State Warriors guard and Foster have a long, acrimonious history, with the point guard complaining about Foster’s officiating for nearly a decade. Now Paul says that a years-old issue that involves his son is at least part of the reason for the friction.“It’s personal,” Paul said. “We had a situation some years ago and it’s personal. The league knows, everybody knows. There’s been a meeting and all that. It’s just a situation with my son. I’m OK with a ref saying whatever — just don’t use a tech to get your point across.“I’ve got to do a better job of making sure I’m staying on the floor for my teammates, but that’s that.”Paul declined to provide additional details of the situation with his son, though he said it happened when he was wit...Latest news
